My Little Man

my little man turned three today.

26th-Oct-2009 12:25 am - mi novio es un zombi

hahahah. alaska y dinarama were like my favorite band when i was a child. always loved their sound....even though they were a little scary to look at. "Mi Novio Es Un Zombi" (my boyfriend is a zombie) is easily one of my favorite songs by Alaska y Dinarama. they delivered some hits that still, to this day remain my faves. haha. i was odd then and im definitely odd now.

i promise a real post soon !

+ a halloween playlist
+ september playlist (that i missed)

summer is now over.

ONE SONG, to represent my summer
this one would be it.

Dr. Buzz Aldrin Presents Magnificent Desolation

yesterday ben & i went to the California ScienCenter for the AIAA Apollo XI celebration and to hear Dr. Buzz Aldrin and a panel discuss what the future of space exploration is going to be. it was fucking amazing. i seriously thought about changing my major. haha. but it quickly died as it came haha.
it was so much fun and a super nerdfest but we enjoyed it

11th-Jul-2009 11:06 pm - my date with Andrew Bird
was amazing.
hahaha.

monica & i went to see Andrew Bird at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles last night.
let me just tell you that it was so beautifully touching.
Andrew Bird is one of the greatest musicians of all time and not to mention the ultimate love of my life. :D
What a cheeseball haha ... but seriously, i decided that after the tour i'm going to Chicago to look for him, declare my undying love for him and propose to him. We could have a happily ever after! hahahahaha wow, a girl can dream right? Come on, who wouldn't want to marry this man!? He's gorgeous, talented, witty & clever and just all around amazing, not to mention a very spiffy dresser.

anyway, after getting lost for a brief moment (typical, thats what happens when i drive) we got to the venue and Ra Ra Riot was already playing T_T. so sad i wanted to see the entire set but i'm pretty sure we missed half of it. They were very good regardless. so fun. we missed heartless bastards completely, but i had never heard them before so i wasn't crying about it at all.

i think my favourite part the entire night was when the audience sang Happy Birthday to Andrew. it was so beautiful. he looked so touched...and i mean, wouldn't you be too? it was such a nice moment. you just had to be there.

here's some really awfully blurry photos.
it's time to get a new point and shoot i believe.

i hope he comes back to LA with St. Vincent.
that'd be my biggest dream come true.
my no.1 girl crush and the love of my life together ahhh
beautiful.
i can't wait.
Sunday was a night of epic proportions.
First off, it was one of the biggest annoyances of my life for two major reasons 1). finding people to go with 2). people talking throughout the entire show. And yet, it turned out to be worth every minute i spent being annoyed, angry and frustrated because Death Cab playing with the LA Philharmonic was one of the most beautiful experiences i have ever, well, experienced. It literally brought tears to my eyes...but i didn't cry. haha. then glenn would tell sophia and i'd never hear the end of it...like i'm not hearing the end of crying through Fleetwood Mac playing "Silver Springs" haha.

after this show i decided that never again am i ever buying tickets in sets of four. at most i will purchase up to two but never again will i purchase tickets in hopes of getting my friends to accompany me. usually shows i want to go to get sold out and my friends never end up with tickets because they are slackers (yes i said it!) and never buy tickets when i tell them to buy them. i asked them about this show back in late april when we all had money and could afford to go...but whatever. i'll drop it. kelly and glenn were great dates for monica and i. it was so much fun. we brought lots of snacks and wine and had a ridiculous time which has been documented with the following brown paper bag insanities, read at your own risk.

bus #666 is actually iron maiden's tour busthe hollywood bowl offers this great program called Park & Ride in partnership with the MTA where you can park and just ride the bus to the hollywood bowl so you don't have to deal with the crazy stack parking and the $20+ it costs to do so. Park&Ride costs $5 roundtrip and you don't have to do a lot of crazy waiting. it's simple, efficient, and fun. i highly recommend it if you're ever going to the hollywood bowl.
our bus meets at schabarum park which is ridiculously close to our work/homes and just made everything more convenient for all of us...since we all wanted to raise our spirits, if you catch my drift. haha.
our bus was bus #665...haha, i think iron maiden rented out 666 on their last tour.

Oh look at me im going to talk throughout the entire shownow let's talk about probably one of the rudest things you can do at a concert....TALK THROUGH THE ENTIRE THING. look, the people around you paid just as much as you did. if you came to talk, please leave. there was a trio of lovely people who just decided that they didnt really care about ANY of the bands playing and they were going to talk loudly and obnoxiously throughout the entire performance. had i had more alcohol in me i'm sure i would have gotten in a fight and i really wanted to avoid that so i just made damn sure i made these people know they were being assholes. which leads me to conclude that unless i have pit tickets or my own terrace box, i will never again visit the hollywood bowl. not even if dead frank sinatra played. well, maybe if it was free. but other than that, never again. i'm getting too old to be getting into fights everywhere i go.

however, as annoying as those people in front of us were being, overall the show was good. New pornographers had a really short set but they played my favourite song "Sing Me Spanish Techno" and Tegan & Sara played my favourite as well "Living Room". Death Cab was of course, amazing, although it was a little weird to see the new Ben Gibbard. But hey, whatever, if i were bangin' Zooey Deschanel, i'd do the same. They did not play "We Laugh Indoors" which was sad for both kelly and i, buuuuuut, they did play my favourite "Photobooth". it was a night for Leedy's favourites i suppose :D

Death Cab w/ the LA Philharmonic

now when the Philharmonic came out to play...
that was phenomenal. beyond beautiful. it was so nice with strings and everyone in the audience singing along. it was just perfect. i kept wishing a certain someone would have been there to enjoy the evening with me, but it was a great enjoyable evening nonetheless. Now closing with Transatlanticism with the Philharmonic and a fireworks show: EPIC. PERFECT. BEAUTIFUL. and everything else you can think of that'd be fitting.
Leftover Jul. 4th Fireworks

sorry for the iphone photos, i couldnt find my point and shoot in time.
and really, i couldve snuck in my d40...the guy at the gate didn't even look in my purse.
